How to bring on new employees successfully

JMA HR & Legal, solicitors and Traviss & Co, accountants have teamed up to present a free workshop that will equip you with the practical skills required to mange the process of bringing on board new employees.

Aimed at all those with responsibility for engaging and managing new employees.

Whether you are recruiting employees for the first time or expanding, we will take you through the process from recruitment onwards, with particular focus on the following:

  • being clear about who you need – a look at the  difference between employees, workers and self-employed consultants
  • recruitment – the interview process, our top tips and mistakes to avoid
  • getting the paperwork right – what should your contract of employment include and which policies & procedures should you put in place
  • the early days – managing the probationary period including terminating the employment if it doesn’t work out

The workshop will be facilitated by Joanna Atkinson

Joanna Atkinson is an experienced employment solicitor and director of JMA HR & Legal Limited.  She has practised in the law for over 25 years and is a member of CIPD and the Employment Lawyers Association.  Joanna advises employers on all aspects of HR and employment law and her pragmatic and commercial approach is appreciated by her many clients.
